Service of Advent Lessons & Carols in Oxford

From the Oxford Ordinariate Group:

A service of Advent Lessons and Carols will be held on Saturday 26 November 2011, at 4.00 p.m., at the Church of the Holy Rood, Oxford.

The music will be provided by The Newman Consort and the service will be followed by refreshments.

At 6.00 p.m., the first Mass of Advent Sunday will be celebrated solemnly with music from the The Newman Consort. The preacher will be the Revd Daniel Lloyd.

 





Explore the Ordinariate in London (Central and Camden)

A public meeting for those interested in the Ordinariate in Central London will be held at Newman House, The Catholic Chaplaincy to the London Universities, 111 Gower Street, London WC1E 6AR on Monday 28th November at 8pm. The speaker will be the Ordinary, Monsignor Keith Newton. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and cheese and wine will be served afterwards. Refreshments will be served from 7.30pm. Anyone who requires further information please contact peter.andrews.lon@gmail.com.

A public meeting will also be held for those interested in the Ordinariate in Camden and the surrounding area at Our Lady of Hal RC Church, 165 Arlington Road, London NW1 7EX in late January/early February with refreshments served afterwards. Event: The Liturgical Patrimony of the Ordinariate and the Reform of the Reform

Monsignor Andrew Burnham will be addressing the Association for Latin Liturgy at their 2011 AGM at St Mary Magdalen, Brighton on Saturday 15 October 2011. The website of the Association for Latin Liturgy states:

Proceedings will begin with Solemn High Mass at 12 noon, celebrated by Mgr Andrew Burnham of the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham. After a buffet lunch, there will be a talk at 2.15pm given by Mgr Burnham on ‘The Liturgical Patrimony of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham and the Reform of the Reform’. Mgr Burnham was a chorister at Southwell Minster, studied music and theology at Oxford, was shortlisted for the post of Master of Music at Westminster Cathedral in 1978, ordained an Anglican priest in 1984, and resigned as Bishop of Ebbsfleet at the end of 2010.

Tea and the AGM will follow, and the day will conclude at 4.30pm with Solemn First Vespers of the Sunday.

Mass will be sung by the church choir under the direction of Clare Bowskill. Serving will be under the direction of the parish MC, and any member wishing to serve is asked first to contact Edward Barrett (Edward.Barrett@latin-liturgy.org or 020 7978 5676).

The church is on Upper North Street, BN1 3FH. The nearest station is Brighton and the church is within 15 minutes’ walk. Directions appear on the church’s website.
