Mgr Newton: Meeting Pope was ‘an absolute joy’

Monsignor Keith Newton, Ordinary of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham, writes about his Private Audience with the Holy Father in the latest edition of the Ordinariate eBulletin, which can be viewed here.  To subscribe to the free eBulletin, click here.

It was an absolute joy and privilege to be invited to a Private Audience with Pope Benedict last week. He showed a sincere and genuine interest in the establishment of the Ordinariate and was keen to hear about the clergy and faithful joining this year, and of our hopes and plans for the future. We presented him with a collection of photographs of the ordinations and the various groups from around the Country, in which he showed great interest.

The Holy Father assured me of a continuing place in his prayer for the Ordinariate as it grows and develops. I was also able to express our sincere appreciation for the generous provisions made in Anglicanorum Coetibus and for the warmth of welcome we have received from the Church.
