These photos are very moving and show the three former Anglican bishops being ordained as Deacons in the Chapel of Allen Hall Seminary in London. The whole thing is appropriately low-key and non-triumphalist and, looking at the pictures, it seems just the resident seminarians and a few concelebrating priests were present. Many thanks to James Bradley for allowing me to link to the pictures.
Pray, please, if you will, for Revv Deacons John Broadhurst, Keith Newton and Andrew Burnham. Brave men. Historic times.
These three will be ordained as priests tomorrow and, with their ordinations to the priesthood, the Ordinariate for England & Wales will be established.
The blogosphere is rife with speculation about what the Ordinariate will be called. My money goes on something like ‘The Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham for England and Wales”. We wait and see.
