Reminder: Sevenoaks Ordinariate Exploration Day tomorrow

19 11 2010

From the blog of St John the Baptist, Sevenoaks, a reminder about tomorrow’s Ordinariate Exploration Day event:

On Saturday we will be holding our Ordinariate exploration session – What is the Ordinariate? – we are expecting good numbers but there’s always room for more, so do come along if you can. We will begin at 3.30 p.m. in St John the Baptist, Sevenoaks (directions) and our thoughts will be led and guided by Dr Geoffrey Kirk, Fr James Patrick and Fr Ivan Aquilina.

Fr James Patrick is a non-stipendiary priest who until recently served as an Honorary Curate at All Saints’, Clifton. He trained for the priesthood at St Stephen’s House, Oxford. Fr Patrick is an experienced barrister, a member of the Inner Temple, and a newly appointed Circuit Judge on the South Eastern Circuit, based at Wood Green. He was a member of the Legal Working Party which assisted with Consecrated Women? and has been involved at a local and national level with Forward in Faith for many years. Fr James will speak on The Ordinariate: Some General Principles.

Dr Geoffrey Kirk is Vicar of St Stephen and St Mark, Lewisham, in the Diocese of Southwark. Until October 2010 he was Secretary of Forward in Faith. He was a member of the Theological Working Party which produced Consecrated Women? and is a regular contributor to New Directions. Fr Kirk will speak on How we got here.

Fr Ivan will then address other options that may be open to Anglicans.

There will be an opportunity for questions and, as ever, the parish clergy are available to talk through people’s concerns, answer questions where possible, and point people to further information: it’s important that we all have all of the facts!

For those who cannot be with us, the sessions will be recorded and uploaded onto this blog as soon as possible on Saturday evening. Other bloggers/websites that wish to use this facility, please contact me directly (curateATsaintjohnthebaptist.org.uk).

A short booklet with some useful statements and information will be distributed. If you cannot make the session and would like a copy, please do email me (as above).

In the meantime, please continue to pray for the Lord’s guidance in all that we do.
